Roamers Community Guidelines
Last updated September 18, 2026. Roamers is operated by Make it Nice GmbH.
Roamers helps adult travelers meet other travelers in unfamiliar places. That only works if people can trust each other. These guidelines explain in plain words what our Terms of Service (§1, §3, §4 and §7) already require. If the two ever differ, the Terms apply.
The short version
- You must be 18 or older.
- Be the person your profile says you are.
- Accept "no", including silence, and never follow someone.
- No sexual content, hate, threats, scams or advertising.
- Never share another person's location or private details.
- Meet in public, and tell someone you trust where you're going.
1. Adults only
Roamers is for people aged 18 and over. Don't use it if you're younger, and don't bring minors into conversations or meetups you arrange here. Any content that sexualizes a minor is removed, the account is closed, and we report it to the police. If you think a traveler is under 18, report them and tell us why.
2. Respect people's boundaries
- If someone declines your message request, doesn't answer, removes you as a connection or blocks you, leave them alone. Don't contact them through another account, a group, a comment or another app.
- Don't harass, bully, intimidate or stalk anyone. That includes showing up uninvited somewhere they mentioned.
- Don't threaten anyone, and don't encourage self-harm.
3. No sexual content
- No nudity, pornography or sexually explicit material anywhere: profiles, posts, groups, hails or messages.
- No unsolicited sexual messages, photos or advances.
- Never share, or threaten to share, intimate images of someone.
4. No hate or violence
- No attacks or slurs based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, sexual orientation or disability.
- No graphic violence or gore, and don't glorify violence.
5. No scams, money requests or advertising
- Don't ask other travelers for money, loans, gifts, crypto or payment details, for any reason.
- No fake emergencies, investment offers or "romance" stories meant to get money.
- No advertising, sales, referral links or recruiting for tours, hostels, jobs, other apps or services, unless we have given written permission.
- No bots, automated messages, copy-paste mass messaging, or hails used as ads.
6. Be yourself
- One account per person.
- Your profile photos must show you. Don't use someone else's photos.
- Don't impersonate anyone, and don't lie about your age, identity or where you are.
- We don't verify identities or run background checks (Terms §7.3). Treat every profile with healthy caution.
7. Protect other people's location and privacy
- Never share another traveler's location, live location link, trip link, hostel, room number, address, phone number or social accounts without their permission.
- Don't forward a live location link that someone sent you.
- Don't post screenshots of private conversations, or photos in which another person can be identified, unless they agree.
- Don't collect information about other users, and don't try to work out someone's exact position.
8. Nothing illegal
No illegal drugs, weapons, human trafficking, exploitation or sex work, and no infringing other people's copyright. Follow local laws wherever you travel. Terms §1.2 lists people who may not use Roamers at all.
9. Meeting safely
- Meet in a public place first, and get there and back on your own.
- Tell someone you trust where you'll be. You can send them a Live share link from Settings, then Live Location Sharing. It updates only while Roamers is open on your phone.
- Keep your money and documents to yourself. Never share bank details or passport photos.
- Stay in control: watch your drink, and leave whenever you feel uncomfortable. You never owe anyone an explanation.
- SOS is not monitored. The SOS button on the Discover map can call local emergency services and share your location with your emergency contacts. Nobody at Roamers sees an SOS or responds to it. If you're in danger, call local emergency services.
10. How to report
Tap ⋯ or the menu on a traveler, hail, post, comment, message or check-in, then choose Report. Add details if you can: they help us most. Blocking takes effect immediately, and the other person isn't told. If you're in danger, call local emergency services first. Step-by-step help is on our Support page.
If you can't report from the app, or you want to raise a safety concern about Roamers itself, email hallo@makeitnice.de. Tell us what happened, who it concerns and when, so we can find it.
11. What happens after a report
- A person reviews it. We review reports within 24 hours. No automated system decides.
- We look at the report and a copy of the reported content saved when the report was sent. It stays available even if the content is deleted later.
- What we can do: take no action; remove the content; send a warning; suspend the account for a period of time; or close the account permanently. Accounts of people under 18 are closed. Threats to someone's life or safety, and child sexual abuse material, are reported to the authorities.
- We tell you by email. You won't see a report's status in the app; we write to you instead. If we act on your content or account, we email you what we did and which rule it broke. You can reply to disagree, and a person will look at the decision again.
- We never tell the reported person who reported them.
- Reports are kept for 12 months after we resolve them, then deleted (Privacy Policy §6).
